Artist Spotlight: Penelope Weinstein

July 17, 2015

Penelope Weinstein is a mixed-media artist who works in a variety of found objects often incorporated with fibers. Her work includes anthropomorphic assemblage sculptures as well as wearable pieces. Penelope's jewelry, grouped into a collection called Objects Felt & Found, explores "the interplay of antique and unusual objects with the textures of hand-knitted felted wool and other fibers" including objects such as puzzle pieces, bottle caps, clothespins, and buttons.

These mixed-media necklaces make a statement on or off your neck. They can serve as sculptural elements draped over another object or perhaps hung on the wall as conversation pieces.

Ms. Weinstein also has three freestanding sculptures available in the gallery.

Reynaldo, Percy, and Eugene are made from a variety of found materials including foundry patterns, bottlecaps, acrylic paint, paintbrushes, nails, and fabric. These eclectic sculptures have their own funky character that transforms the materials into cohesive sculptures.
