Artist Spotlight: Kathy Picard of Kit's Creations
Kathy Picard, artist of Kit's Creations, began beading and making jewelry in an interesting way. While working at Aetna, she began making badge holders, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings for her co-workers. From there, she became very skilled at making jewelry and was able to focus on her craft when she retired in 2006 and Kit's Creations was born.
Kathy is the mother of Steven Uccello, Stylist/Owner at The Bird Nest and is often found helping out at the Gallery. She has a wide variety of pieces for sale at The Bird Nest and also does custom commissions upon request. One of her most popular custom pieces is her name bracelet which can be customized with up to four names and various colored beads and crystals.
Kathy works in a variety of materials and bead types including sterling silver beads, semi-precious stones, Swarovski crystals, pearls, vintage beads, and wooden beads from all over the world.
She also has many pieces including seaglass and pieces of broken ceramics. These recycled bits add lots of character and history to each piece and are very popular here along the shoreline.
She has participated in many craft fairs and events over the years selling her unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry. Kathy's work was featured in Elan Magazine from 2011 to 2014 as well as in Glastonbury Life Magazine as the cover artist for the September 2014 issue.
